Oral implant surgery is a routine treatment from which both dentists and patients expect high success rate but often bacterial contamination at implant surgery has been related to early implant failures. Therefore different prophylactic treatments such as use of pre and post operative antibiotics have been taken into consideration. The routine use of antibiotics in oral implant treatment seems to be widespread and it's benefits are well recognized in Dentistry. The pre and post operative antibiotics for each implant surgery is not mandatory but to achieve high long term survival and success rates of implant surgery antibiotic prophylaxis is required.
